Profile
Born
in Iran, Evleen was the 2nd child of 3. She started receiving drawing
instruction at the age of 12.
By
14 she was the student of a well known artist- A. Petgar. While
studying with him, Evleen received lessons in drawing, painting,
charcoals, pastels and oils. It was at this time that Evleen learned
the beauty of realism and how it is the principle of all styles
of painting. To her it seemed as though true realistic painting
captured the life itself.
At
17, she was accepted to the University of Decorative and Fine Arts
in Tehran, Iran. She got the chance to work with a multitude of
artists that had varying styles. Here she obtained a bachelors degree
in architecture.
In 1978 with her first born daughter and husband she immigrated
to the United States residing in California. She attended Cal State
Northridge to complete a Master's program and discontinued this
program discovering that it was not her cup of tea. Her involvement
as an architect with her husband who is a civil engineer has helped
her in the visualization of proportion and dimension in her work.
It has also proved to be an advantage by feeling the value of depth
and perspective.
A
turning point in her life came when she took a vacation to Europe,
visiting France, Italy and Greece. It was here that she saw what
she had always been looking for, the magnificence of the works was
enchanting and almost mystical. It was an enlightening experience
and with this she returned to the U.S with a newfound energy and
vigor to paint more works and to pass on her knowledge.
